Why is the microphone not working? expand_more

PhonetKor requires microphone permission to score your pronunciation. Please go to your device's System Settings > Apps > PhonetKor > Permissions and ensure 'Microphone' is allowed. On iOS, you may also need to check Settings > Privacy > Microphone.

The app says 'Speech Services not available'. expand_more

PhonetKor relies on your device's built-in Text-to-Speech (TTS) and Speech Recognition engines. On Android, ensure 'Google Speech Services' is installed and updated. On iOS, ensure 'Siri' is enabled in settings as it powers the system's speech recognition.

Can I use PhonetKor offline? expand_more

Yes! PhonetKor stores all data on your device. Once you've downloaded the app, all practice loop, flashcards, and review features work 100% offline. No internet connection is required for your daily training.

How is my pronunciation scored? expand_more

We compare your spoken audio (converted to text via your device's system speech recognition) against the target sentence. The score reflects how accurately the system could transcribe your speech. Note: This is a learning metric, not a scientific acoustic analysis.
